Historic Picnic Commemorating the Constitution of May 3rd, 1971
date: 3rd May

Production re-enactment of the May 3rd Constitution with theatre, poetry recitations, a concert of early music, games and competitions for children, the Theatre on the Water, music from the Age of the Enlightenment and dance shows (dancers wear costumes from the Stanisław August Poniatowski era).

Polish Radio and the Copernicus Science Centre Picnic
date: June

The largest open-air event in Europe popularising science. Each year, research institutes, universities, museums, cultural institutions, science foundations and scientists gather to show their achievements, and the backdrop of their daily work. It is held on the Podzamcze and in the New Town Market.

Wianki na PozdamczuWreath Celebration (Wianki)

This giant picnic is held on the Podzamcze: from early afternoon on the day, fairs and concerts are offered to Varsovians and tourists. This event harkens back to ancient pagan rituals celebrating the elements of fire and water. Concerts, shows and  fairs are offered, and the event ends with Warsaw’s virgins placing wreaths lit with candles in the river, with freworks blazing overhead.

King John III’s Name Day in Wilanów
date: June 

On this day, the Wilanów palace and gardens are filled with characters dating back to King John III  Sobieski’s times. You can meet Queen Marysieńka and her court, or take part in court games and workshops popular in the olden days. 

Reconstruction of the Warsaw Uprising
date: August

Outdoor events commemorating the events of 1944: it includes the staging of battles and the everyday life of the insurgents.
