The Museum presents the secrets of our planet, its history, the processes taking place in its interior and on its surface, and traces the geological history of the capital. A special exhibition displays the remains of large mammals that inhabited the Mazovia area during the various glacial ages (such as parts of the skeleton of a forest elephant discovered in the centre of Warsaw). Particularly notable are the extensive collections of amber, minerals, rocks and meteorites. Around the museum is an exhibition of historic boulders and building stones.
