Between 1928-1980, Stawisko was the home of Anna and Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz, and was also a vibrant cultural centre – as it still is to this day. The Museum bearing the name of the two writers is a testament to their music and poetry, and displays the works of graphic artists in the exhibition hall on the top floor.
The original opulent mansion interiors have been preserved, featuring 19th and 20th century paintings, furniture and objects for everyday use. Also available to visitors is the library with valuable first prints of ‘Pan Tadeusz’ by Adam Mickiewicz from 1834, and the ‘Dictionary of the Polish Language’ by Samuel Bogumił Linde from 1807. The Museum also hosts a series of meetings, including: 'Sound-Word-Image-Thought', 'Thoughts and Sound Academy', and since 2000, the Confrontation Music Festivals.
Location: 25 km south-west of Warsaw.
